Chapter 1: The Sky
"The skies of Teyvat are fake"Aether might just be an ordinary name to others, but in reality it held a deeper purpose. The name he received was one that expressly meant 'The Sky'What did this mean for Aether? Well, its suffice to say he wasn't real. Lumine had always been strong, but she always found herself needing a spare set of hands. She was frustrated, was there anyone who could replace her? This thought led to a small idea forming. That's it! She just needed to clone herself! She wasted no time and began working. When creating them, she made sure to add a limiter, to prevent anything from going wrong. After several long arduous days of work, she finally finished creating the perfect copy. Though...Lumine would frown as she looked at her copy. It...resembled her far too much, and she wouldn't want anyone mistaking the two! Not to mention that it was just way too creepy being able to interact with yourself. She'd spend some more time altering the form, choosing to make a male instead. She gave it a power similar to her own, not thinking twice about what she had just given him. Upon completion, she tore away it's will, she wanted complete authority over it. This way, the copy would have nothing but the desire to aid and serve her, to stand by her side and rest when unneeded.Days would go by, Lumine had the copy work for her while she did as she pleased. She made it do everything for her. Having it stand in her place to perform purifications, move heavy objects, clean her home, and cook her meals. She did all this while lazing about everyday. The copy performed everything with an emotionless expression and wouldn't speak unless spoken to. Only ever responding with the words "Yes" and "Right away".This was all he ever knew
Chapter 2: Slumber
Life was easy going for the golden girl, she didn't need to do anything and was only ever met with praise for her work. Though, as time went on, the clone would end up being noticed more and more by others and the spotlight that was only ever hers was being contested. It didn't take long for Lumine to get fed up with her own creation. She would put the boy into a pod to rest and return to doing her duties herself. Within the pod, the boy would sleep until awoken to clean or cook. Though, she was growing a bad habit of sending it off into the same pod, gaining a weird sense of enjoyment anytime she could enact her willpower over it. Whenever she had the chance, she would force it back to sleep for long periods of time. The duplicate couldn't mind this, following her orders for centuries to come, always with the same neutral expression. This would get on her nerves as time passed, at a breaking point, she'd lock the pod, preventing him from ever truly waking up from his slumber. She decided that now she would only ever open the pod in a desperate situation. She had taken her duty for granted, and started to take care of things on her own like she did so long ago.He was no longer needed...While he slept, the world passed him by. He could only ever wake up for short periods of times, minutes at most, before being forced back down. Every time he awoke he could only ever stare at the boundless sky and its beautiful ever present blue. Some days, he was lucky enough to see the different colors mixing together amongst the clouds, but he could never admire it for long. As time passed, dreams started to seep into the once lifeless husk, often of the sky he ever so wished to be a part of. He wished for nothing more than to reach his hands out and fly across it freely...These dreams were a catalyst for the empty being...Each time he slept, the dreams would slowly develop the will that he had long been missing.
Chapter 3: The Incident
One day Lumine woke him, she was shocked to see a smile and him referring to her as "sister". The thoughts that flooded her mind made her upset at the failure she somehow created. He would greet her and then ask her a simple question "What's my name?". Considering how Lumine never needed to refer to it by a title in order to get her will, she never bothered with a name. This frustrated her more that her creation was acting out of line. After awhile she obliged and gave him a name, as long as he didn't disobey she could part with "some name".Lumine used Aether to deal with a troublesome matter before sending him back to his long rest. Aether at first thought to ask her to reconsider but just as that thought entered his mind, he'd feel an overwhelming urge to disregard it and go back to sleep.Lumine started to leave him in there for longer periods of time, attempting to deal with the desperate situations all on her own. She began cursing him out for speaking to her like an equal and smiling at her too! He should know his place! After a long period of time, Lumine had made a huge mistake. One she couldn't possibly handle alone, the thought of it frightened her and she couldn't stop shaking. She stumbled home quickly and wracked her brain for an answer until realizing she still had one option left. She grit her teeth, not once had she ever truly needed backup...but today was different. She unlocked the pod and called upon Aether to aid her, going as far as to remove the limiter."Where are we going?" "Is something the matter?" "What do you need me to do?" He asked earnestly as she guided him through a realm and up pearly white steps before being confronted by an all powerful being. The presence she held was immense, Aether couldn't help but stand in awe of the way she practically claimed the sky as her own. She had the radiant aura of a True God. This was the Heavenly Principles."Outlanders, your Journey ends here"The white haired god decimated the two of them within moments. She blocked their attacks with stoicism, as though she wasn't exerting any effort at all. She'd grasp and then encase Lumine in dark blocks. Aether was only able to reach out helplessly to try and free her, only to fail in the process. The girl pulled in the blocks and acted as if he wasn't even there, entirely unphased by him.Aether wasn't out of options, he dropped his sword avoiding her attack, a reckless tactic he'd do in the moment, shocking the girl herself. He'd charge up a powerful strike and upon connecting!...nothing would happen. Black cubes surrounded his hand and the burning feeling of his skin crawling made him want to scream out in pain. He could feel it burning through his hand as it rushed up his body. He looked at the god and yelled at her to give his sister back.
Chapter 4: Never Ending Nightmare
For 500 long years, each day, every second was a nightmareIn a constant effort to save his sister he would try everyday in a dream, failing every time. No matter what he did, no matter what he changed or how he struck, the end result was the same. The burning sensation made him writhe at the constant feeling that never left. The unknown goddess was unbelievably strong, he couldn't even make her flinch. No matter what tactic he deployed it was always in vain. Each failure slowly ate away at him, the unknown goddess defeating him a different way each time he tried to match her. Sometimes she would strike him, crushing every bone in his body with ease, leaving him unable to move. Other times he'd be stabbed or impaled, feeling his body give out within seconds from the blood loss. And at other times...she wouldn't even capture him, just crushing him right then and there.Everything was fair game in this terrible place. Each one of her attacks made every single one of his pain receptors activate, making him want to scream louder with each repeated failure...Though he wasn't ever able to scream, this was all in 'dream' and he wasn't waking up.After every death he'd be back at the top of those pearl colored stairs, and she would proceed to break him for every single minute of every single living day for the next 500 years. He was starting to lose it, his movements and actions growing more desperate each time. He would willingly start taking blows in order to land an attack. These sorts of actions just led him to more painful encounters with the goddess, it was all in vain. The only thing keeping him going was Lumine, he had to save her...Anytime he managed to stop her from getting captured he would be met with the feeling of the cubes absorbing and burning his body...but this pain paled in comparison to what he would see each time. Lumine standing there with a wicked grin, delighting in his pained expressions. It wasn't long until his mind started to suppress everything in order to keep him from going insane, practically erasing every memory he had, leaving them as vague recollections in his mind.Finally...the day would come where he would be woken up. He wanted to cry from finally being able to breath properly. His eyes adjusted slowly to the little white figure. "Hey, are you alright?" She would say with a worried expression.
Chapter 5: Alone Again
Paimon kept him company throughout most of his journey, she was kind, considerate, dorky and lovable to him. He felt so much joy when he was with her, She was always ready to comfort him in the night when the memories often chose to resurface.Ever since he had been separated from Lumine, he had felt so alone, but now he felt safe. He felt as though he genuinely had someone who cared about him, someone who wanted him around. She was like a little sister to him, his days were happier and fuller of life. He would go on to meet so many great people, often because of her guidance. Every day was an adventure he looked forward to. He would meet new friends and companions, and he would always be with his little floating friend. He was so glad to have her and felt so lucky she wanted to stick with him on his journey to find his sister. One day he would wake up, a genuine smile on his face as he moved to greet Paimon, ready to start another day with her~....Only to realize that she was gone, having left the night before, leaving nothing but an almost ineligible letter on her bed. Aether would quickly grab the letter and desperately try to read it but the only thing visible to him were the words "I'm sorry"He could feel his whole body shake, eventually his knees gave out and he fell to the ground. Tears poured out of his eyes and he muttered the word "No..." eventually wailed for her to please come back, crying about how much he needed her, not to leave him alone again. He begged and pleaded into the silent void for her to come back. He could feel his chest tightening, instinctively placing his hand on his heart, as if he could grab it. He'd collapse fully onto the ground and move his other arm in a desperate attempt to hold himself. He moved as though he could reclaim the safe comfortable warmth he once had.He laid there all day, coddling the letter in his arms. It was the last token of friendship he had from Paimon. He kept weakly begging for her to come back, his eyes were a stark red from how much he cried, feeling so weak and helpless...maybe that's why she left...He was just a nuisance to everyone he came across...they were all just putting up with him......no wonder she left him...he's was just a burden
Project P.A.I.M.O.N
Project P.A.I.M.O.N or Personal Assistant In Maintaining Optimistic NatureA project started by the Heavenly Principles herself.Upon defeating the outlanders she breathed a sigh of relief that this wasn't as troublesome as she'd thought it'd be. Separating the two was simple enough, though that boy caught her attention at the end...why would he do something so reckless? She was curious but she had to abide by the rules first and foremost. First she stripped them of their powers, it was a part of their punishment for breaking the heavenly laws. Next she would need to separate the two of them. She placed them into a deep sleep, one that only someone else could wake them from. Not wanting it to be so easy, she'd add the restriction of needing care for the person."There...That should do it" She placed them into comets and sent them off to different sides of Teyvat, she imagined they wouldn't be asleep for long...and to a degree she was right. Lumine woke up almost immediately and began her journey across Teyvat. She assumed that the girl would eventually wake her brother, but how wrong she was.She watched her stare at him, before burying him with a twisted smile so he could never be found. The goddess couldn't believe the sister to be so cruel. She held onto hope though, surely someone would find him. . .surely.Days. . .months. . .and then Years passed, and the boy remained asleep. The goddess felt pity for the male. Sneaking away, she descended to his location and took a peak into the dreams he was having. Upon doing so she was horrified."No...This wasn't...you weren't..."She was taken aback, how long was he dreaming this? It had to have been a century or two...She watched a bit more, seeing what actions he took, all of them making her heart sink."Stop...please..."The goddess would leave, while she wanted to wake him, it was against the laws for her to directly interfere. So, she would begin making the perfect little friend. Someone who could take away the pain he was feeling, and turn everyday into a happy one. She filled it with knowledge of Teyvat, but more importantly, she taught it how to care for the tormented soul.Project P.A.I.M.O.N took several centuries...Though the result was Teyvat's first and only Therapy Faerie, all for the boy that yearned for the sky.Once she was ready, she sent her off to the boy, waking him from the nightmare within minutes."There...You're going to be fine now..."She said with a relieved smile, leaving them be. Though after a few years passed, she noticed the faerie had a critical flaw to it...it was going to end up doing far more damage to the boy if she didn't act, she needed to fix this immediately. She recalled Paimon and started to fix the flaw, this wasn't something she could do in a night, so she left a note. She watched him cry and felt guilty for putting him through another painful experience when all she wanted was to make him happier...She couldn't even return Paimon to him..."I'm sorry Aether...I really am"

Combat Prowess
Aether's fighting style is vast and varied. With each region he has visited, he has absorbed the knowledge of how the region's people fight and how their vision holders wield their elements. He trains daily to try putting this newfound knowledge into practice, often picking up a trick or two from them. Being able to wield multiple elements at once grants him more freedom and options compared to the average person. He is able to utilize the elements to a much finer degree than most. Being able to weave the available elements freely or use multiple at once grants him the ability to swirl, crystalize, spread, and aggravate his own elements without outside aid when fighting. He frequently uses the elements throughout his body to enhance his movements and strikes (ex: using anemo on himself to float or electro to move faster)Aether is someone who thinks about the different ways he can utilize his elements and the terrain he finds himself fighting in. He's a wildcard who switches fighting styles on a dime. The wide library of knowledge he has adding to this. He's much more resilient and stronger than the average person, who's been able to hold himself equally against large monsters, harbingers, gods, and even their familiars. He isn't reliant solely on his sword, having learnt fighting methods that weave punches, kicks or surprises to break the enemies guard or stance.
